Winter Weather

Now that winter is here in full force, please make sure that your children have proper attire to wear on the playground.  Snow pants, coats, gloves and hats are strongly recommended. 

PTSA News

PTSA is requesting parent help to sign up to bake goodies for the bake sale they are having at the Chili cook-off on Saturday, February 11th.   Proceeds from this year's bake sale will go towards raising money for the Shakespeare plays that PTSA sponsors each spring. Donations can be dropped off at the school the day before.  Please contact Sarita Loya at 392-4547 or sloya@co.boise.id.us if you plan on sending in items.

Please make sure that you notify us of any e-mail changes. We use e-mail to communicate with you regarding school news, lunch account status and emergency updates.  It is critical that we have current addresses. 

Midterms

The K-2 midterm will go home next week along with their Idaho Reading Indicator scores. 

After School Tutoring and Homework Help

The supplemental tutoring offered after school will provide your child with extra tutoring as well as homework help!  The tutoring is provided by classroom teachers and is designed to be an extension of the classroom which will boost students’ understanding and confidence.  If you have not signed your child up and are interested, please contact your child’s teacher.

The schedule below outlines our daily plan.  Tutoring will be offered four days a week on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays after school from 3:20-5:15 p.m. 

Daily Schedule

• 3:15-3:30 – Students will go to their tutoring classroom, have a snack if they choose to bring one and be ready to work by 3:30.

• 3:30 -4:15 – Tutoring Session for either Math (M,W) or Reading/Language Arts (T, TH)

• 4:15- 5:15 – Homework and Reading Time

Please remember to send your child with a snack!

Papa Murphy Pizza for Super Bowl Sunday

The preschool class is selling pizzas for Super Bowl Sunday.  They will even deliver them to your area! If you’d like a pizza, be sure your order is in by Thursday.

Math Strategies Websites and Videos

As we are implementing the new Common Core State Standards for math, we are instructing students using different mathematical models for solving addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.  The websites below offer detailed descriptions and sometimes video explanations.  We will continue to provide links and explanations that parents can use to familiarize themselves with these new processes.
